What made-to-measure means at Mestra

Made-to-measure at Mestra means the shelving is configured and made to order from your room measurements. You choose bay widths, rail height, number of bays and storage modules within the logic of the Mestra system.

It is not standard off-the-shelf furniture, and it is not fully bespoke joinery. That middle position is useful when you want a cleaner fit, live pricing and a system that can still change later.

Start with your wall measurements

Common problem

Why standard shelving can be awkward

  • Fixed widths create gaps or overhangs.
  • Proportions can feel wrong for the wall.
  • Storage options are often limited to shelves only.
  • Materials may not suit a permanent room feature.
  • You can end up adapting the room around the furniture, rather than the other way around.

Configurable

What you can configure

Start configuring your shelves

Bay width

Choose standard production bay widths of 500mm, 600mm, 700mm, and 800mm, or use in-between widths from 500mm to 800mm where instant pricing is available.

Rail height

Use single-height 900mm rails, double-height 1800mm rails, or request a quote for a custom rail height.

Number of bays

Build a compact unit or a wider wall layout.

Shelf positions

Arrange open storage around books, objects, records and work equipment.

Drawers and door cabinets

Add hidden storage into the same modular system. Cabinets are 360mm deep.

Limits

What stays within the system

  • The core rail and bay system logic.
  • Every construction detail.
  • Fully scribed built-in features.
  • Highly unusual joinery details.
  • Freestanding versions of the current wall-mounted system.

FAQ

Practical questions

Short answers on fit, installation and what Mestra is not trying to be.

How accurate are the measurements?

Mestra is made to order from the measurements you provide, within the rail and bay logic of the system. Use the smallest reliable wall measurement if the space is uneven, and ask before ordering if the fit is uncertain.

What if my space has unusual angles or obstacles?

Mestra can work well around simple alcoves, awkward wall spans, sockets and skirting, but it is not fully scribed joinery. Very uneven walls, sloped ceilings or detailed architectural integration may need bespoke joinery instead.

Can I add more shelves later?

Yes. Mestra is modular, so shelves can be repositioned within the installed rail system and parts can be added where the wall, bay layout and fixing points allow.

How long does delivery take?

The current shelving lead time is six weeks or less from order confirmation. Quote-only layouts may need an extra check before the order is confirmed.

How does made-to-measure shelving pricing work?

The configurator shows a live price for instant-priced layouts before you order. Bay width, bay count, rail height, shelves and cabinet choices all affect the price.

Use the configurator to set the wall width, choose bay sizes, add shelves or cabinets, and review live pricing before you order.
