How the shelves hang.

Shelves and cabinets hang from pins in the rails, so each one can sit at any rail position and move later. There are two kinds of shelf, and you can pick either in the configurator.

On arms

A plywood arm sits against each rail with a pin through it, then the shelf lowers onto the arms. To switch, choose non-bookended shelves in the configurator’s Details step.

Materials and finish

Baltic birch plywood throughout, with its layered edges on show.

Finished in Rubio Monocoat Oil Plus 2C, Natural. The hardwax oil soaks into the birch so the grain shows, and worn spots can be re-oiled.

How it arrives

Flat-packed
3 rails and 6 shelves with their bookends

The bookended shelves come flat-packed and slot together: drop the studs into the plate, then slide the panel along until it locks.

  1. Step 1Fix the first rail Hold it plumb with a level, then screw through all nine holes with fixings that suit your wall.
  2. Step 2Space the next rail The 602 mm gauge sets the gap and the level checks they line up. Screw beside the gauge first, then do the same for the last rail.
  3. Step 3Push in the pins One each side of the bay, in the hole the cabinet hangs from.
  4. Step 4Hang the cabinets Lift, push back to the wall and lower the hangers onto the pins.
  5. Step 5Hang the shelves Arms against the rails, a pin through each, then lower the board in. Repeat up the rails.

Every part lifts off again whenever you want to change it. Tools included: an alignment spacer with an integrated level, a masonry drill bit, and a PZ2 driver bit. You supply the drill.

Change it now, or years from now.

Everything hangs on the rails, so this layout is a starting point. Move a shelf to any rail position, swap a cupboard for drawers, or add another bay next year.

Extra shelves, cabinets, and bays hang on the same rails, and replacement parts are sold individually.
